What you’d be doing in this role

We’re currently looking for a passionate Digital Graphic Designer who will help us scale our next phase of growth in Japan. We're looking for an experienced Japanese Designer with a focus on visual & graphic design and UI/UX & page experimentation. This is a full-time, 12-month contract within our International SEO team. In line with our mission, we want to ensure that each landing page has beautiful assets that are informative, engaging and complimentary with the SEO copy. A winning combination that will help new users know Canva, its features, and how it can empower them to design.


Responsibilities

At the moment, this role is focused on:

  • Creating a range of fresh, varied and high-quality assets for our Japanese Landing pages
  • Suggesting fresh design styles and creative directions that suit our users’ needs
  • Making necessary improvements to existing graphics
  • Designing and creating prototypes and mock-ups for our Japanese growth experiments
  • Translating creative concepts into visual design by working with cross-functional teams to take ideas from concept to execution, working with project managers, design teams, information technologists, and content experts.
  • Testing designs for usability and quality

Qualifications

You're probably a match if

  • You are a native-Japanese speaker with business-level English.
  • You are quick with ideas, coming up with original visuals that can catch our user’s eye, but can still match Canva’s brand guidelines.
  • You are able to understand a brief from stakeholders, research accordingly, and convert that brief into excellent visual content to meet the project’s needs.
  • You have experience as a Graphic, Brand or Visual Designer creating a diverse range of digital and print marketing materials. Experience in Motion Design is a bonus!
  • You are fluent in Figma
  • You have experience in and a love for design trends and styles that are specific to Japan
  • You have a portfolio demonstrating your passion for designing clean, elegant, and beautiful designs.
  • You have a keen understanding of design based on visual, cultural, and popular trends
  • You have a strong stylistic approach, and a strong foundation in what makes a good design
  • You design with the end user’s needs in mind
  • You deliver great designs, on deadline and to brief

The SEO group keeps growing globally and our role is to give the maximum exposure to Canva’s tools, services, products and inspire users to create their next design in Canva. Our group is made of keyword researchers, Tech SEO specialists, SEO content specialists, Copywriters, Engineers, Data analysts, Operations specialists and of course, Designers. We’re present in many regions of the world.

Working with a full Japanese SEO team (SEO Country Leal, SEO Content Specialist, Outreach Specialist and Copywriters), you will create visual content to inform, persuade, engage, and motivate our target audience to take particular actions. It will involve landing page assets creation but also a variety of growth experiments meant to enhance the user experience and increase our conversion rate.
